Seminole Estates Residents Association (SERA)
SERA is a 501(c)(7) mutual-benefit, non-profit corporation registered with the State of Oregon. It operates on a non-profit basis according to Oregon and Federal laws.
Residents of Seminole Estates who are on the title of the home or are on the Park Rental Agreement (except Management) are automatically members of SERA. As such, they are entitled to attend business meetings and to have a vote at those meetings. The purpose of this organization is to promote communication between residents and management, and to distribute information of interest to all residents. Commonwealth Real Estate Services forwards a contribution of $3.00 per year, per space, to SERA to help with operating expenses.
The homeowners association SERA was formed and fulfills the requirements as specified in the Oregon Revised Statutes to represent the Residents of the park. It was known as SMEHA from 1978 to 1995. The seven member board is elected in a park-wide process with rotated terms of two (2) years. In odd-numbered years three new board members are elected and four new board members are elected in even-numbered years. This ensures continuity and experience.
SERA Social
The SERA Social Club is different in that club membership requires annual dues payment of an amount set by the Residents at a Residents Meeting (currently $10.00 per person each year, reduced to $5.00 if paid during the last half of the membership year). The membership year runs from July 1 through June 30 with dues due on July 1 and payable to the SERA Treasurer.
The benefits of being a member of SERA Social are many. All dues-paying members are entitled to free monthly potlucks and reduced prices at various other social events. The dues are also used to keep the clubhouse kitchen supplied, and for other occasional purchases. SERA Social members are given a name tag that need to be worn to the various functions. Otherwise, you might be asked to pay a fee.
