Emergency Preparedness

In case of an emergency there is a generator at the clubhouse as well as a fireplace. SERA Board members, emergency responders, park management and maintenance persons know how to operate the generator. There is an active CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) in place to help in the case of an emergency.

Residents are urged to have emergency supplies of food, water and medication, along with other recommended essentials on hand. Emergency preparedness flyers are available and meetings are held to help residents plan for possible disasters.

Environment

Seminole Estates is bordered by Beaverton and Bronson Creeks. These creeks and the adjoining wetlands provide a beautiful location and are home to a variety of birds and wildlife. The two creeks are spawning creeks and do sustain fish and small water creatures. The catch basins within the park catch the abundance of rainwater and run-off from yards and occasional car washing and drain directly into the creeks. Please do not use chemicals that can drain into the catch basins and harm the wetlands. There are many biodegradable products available for cleaning and landscaping use that do not pose a threat to the health of this natural area.

Please exercise caution in maintaining your bird feeders to keep spillage off the ground. Birdseed attracts little woodland creatures and sometimes bigger ones such as raccoons and skunks that can become a nuisance.

Food Barrel

The Oregon Food Bank provides staples for needy families. A barrel is located in the kitchen supply area and is available year-round. When it is full a resident delivers the filled barrel to the food bank.

Guests

Guests using facilities such as the pool, library, pool table, etc., must be accompanied by a resident at all times.

Medical Supplies

Medical supplies are available when needed. These include crutches, canes, walkers, wheelchairs, commodes and other items. Contact the SERA President or the park manager for details. An AED is available in the clubhouse.

Sign-Up Sheets

Sign-up sheets are on the card table by the north door of the clubhouse. They are used for most of the activities held in the clubhouse, i.e., potlucks, ladies luncheon and men's breakfast. The sign-up sheets are VERY IMPORTANT for planning purposes to adequately prepare for upcoming events.
