Gates

Front Gate

The front entrance to the park from 195th Ave. is controlled by an automatic gate. By mutual agreement, the gate is open from 7 am to 7 pm.

Between 7 pm and 7 am a gate opener is required. At the closing of a home, the gate opener is passed from the seller to the buyer.

A telephone is available at the gate to allow guests to call a resident's designated phone and the resident may then "buzz" the gate open. (Note: The phone at the gate must be used. Calling from other phones does not work for the purpose of opening the gate.)

Control Pad Operation

There are two ways to call a resident's designated phone via the control pad: by name or by unit number.

Name

Names are ordered in the gate's list by last name, then first initial. The list starts in the middle of the alphabet, so push the A button to move up the list or Z to move down the list. Multiple pushes may be needed to arrive at the desired name. Once there, push the CALL button (below the Z button). If the line is busy, press # or CALL to hang up.

Note: The gate lists only one name per unit number.

Unit Number

Enter the desired 3-digit unit number (e.g., 123 or 002) using the numeric keypad, then push the CALL button. If the line is busy, press # or CALL to hang up.

Note: The unit number must be three (3) digits. Prepend a 0 to two digit units and 00 to one digit units to satisfy this requirement.

Resident's Designated Phone

When a visitor calls a resident's designated phone from the control pad, the designated phone will ring. The resident may answer and converse with the visitor. In order to open the gate, the resident needs to press 9 on their designated phone's keypad.

Only one phone may be a unit's designated phone. This phone may be either a landline or a cell phone. It must be based in the general Portland metro area (area codes 503 or 971). Phones of area codes 503 or 971 may not work if they're based outside of the general Portland metro area, e.g., Salem or Tillamook.

Contact park management to change the designated phone.

Helpful Suggestions

If a landline phone is the designated phone, a resident will not be able to let themself in when outside the gate. This shouldn't be an issue if a cell phone is the designated phone.

Some residents have found it useful to add a contact for the gate to their phone. This helps to avoid missed gate calls due to the number being blocked, the number not being recognized by the resident leading the resident to ignore the call, etc. Suggested names for this contact include 'Front Gate' and 'Seminole Gate'. The phone number for the front gate is 503-629-5959.

Walking Gates

There is a small gate located to the east of the entrance gate that walkers may use. A key is required and can be obtained from the park manager.

At the back of the park (end of Birch St.) there is a walking gate that is controlled by the same key used at the front walking gate. This allows easy access to the Quatama MAX station. The back walking gate is inset in the large gate which allows access of emergency vehicles should the main gate be blocked. (A fire lane beyond the back gate is kept open for the safety of the park residents and the occupants of the adjoining apartment complex.)
